Well, hello there.

You are probably here because you read one of my post. Unfortunately, other than that one post, there is not much else to see yet.

I am working on creating a personal blog documenting my experience in building a passive income through dividend investing. However, up to this point I actually don't have much to write about. Maybe not yet. Or maybe never. I don't know.

I am not an expert, you see. I can't teach people how to be a great investor, or how to strike it rich in the stock market, or how to become a millionaire, because I am none of the above. I am a penny-pincher learning to stretch the little that I have. You don't need me to teach you anything.

We (my wife and I) started investing in individual dividend stocks in 2020. Before that, our sole investing experience was having an S&P500 index fund, adding to it regularly and leaving it alone. We have been doing it for more than a decade, still do and will continue to do so.

One day, I asked myself this question: "Would it be possible for us to live off the dividends when we retire, so we never have to sell our investments?" That would be great, right? We'll be able to pass it to our daugther when we are gone, and she can continue to do the same. You know, the generational wealth thingy that people talk about.

I looked into my index fund account, did a little calculation and realized that to be able to do that, I will need to invest more. Way more. More than I can manage to do before I reach my retirement age. That is because S&P500 dividend yield is quite low. It's just not the right tool for us to generate passive income.

So I thought: OK. Let's keep doing what we are doing with the index fund, and create a separate account where we invest in individual stocks focusing on companies that grow their dividends and maybe some ETFs and REITs for better yields. Then we'll see. We will have our S&P500 account as a benchmark.

It's not easy, for sure. We need to research the companies, study the financial statements, the balance sheets, the historical data, you know, the boring bits that we don't need to do with S&P500 index fund. There will be stumbles. There will be mistakes. So I thought I should document them somewhere, to help me remember what we learned.

Hence this website.

You know what, come to think of it, the fact that I have very little to write is probably a good thing. Because that means it is been going fine. At least so far.

Fingers crossed.
